JetBlue, Brightline Team Up With Interline Ticketing

“I’ve traveled in Europe, and there it’s easy to just take a flight and a train together, no hassle. Why can’t we do that here?”
How many times have you heard that...or maybe even said it yourself? This week JetBlue and Brightline unveiled a fly/rail partnership that allows passengers to book seamless travel between origin and destination pairs the airline and the railroad serve.
Passengers will be able to book Brightline tickets as part of their JetBlue itinerary right on the JetBlue.com website, and the class of service will be consistent across the booking. In other words, if you book JetBlue’s Mint business-class product and continue on Brightline to, say, Aventura, Fla., you’ll enjoy Brightline Premium cabin seating and lounge access.
Fort Lauderdale was JetBlue’s third-biggest market in 2024, and Orlando was the fourth.
JetBlue operates 284 aircraft to 104 destinations in the U.S., Caribbean, Central America, and South America. Brightline’s station near Fort Lauderdale airport was one of the railroad’s first, and Brightline opened its Orlando Airport station two years ago.
Brightline will operate effectively like a codeshare regional partner airline.
“We are proud to partner with JetBlue to enhance connectivity throughout Florida,” Barbara Drahl, senior vice president of marketing and commercial strategy at Brightline, said in a prepared statement. “This partnership enables travelers to book a single ticket for both air and rail, offering a fast, reliable, and eco-friendly rail transportation option while seamlessly connecting to JetBlue’s extensive network.”
JetBlue-Brightline connections will include complimentary shuttle service between airports and nearby stations, but for now JetBlue TrueBlue loyalty members won’t get additional mileage points for their Brightline legs.
"It is an honor to be recognized by the Rail Passengers Association for my efforts to strengthen and expand America’s passenger rail. Golden spikes were once used by railroads to mark the completion of important rail projects, so I am truly grateful to receive the Golden Spike Award as a way to mark the end of a career that I’ve spent fighting to invest in our country’s rail system. As Chair of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, it has been my priority to bolster funding for Amtrak, increase and expand routes, look to the future by supporting high-speed projects, and improve safety, culminating in $66 billion in new funding in the Bipartisan infrastructure Law."
